Rooftop Fundraiser – Karen DeSantos, the executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of West Central Wisconsin, spent 24 hours atop the Broadway Diner in the summer heat to raise $10,000 for summer programs for kids. The event included activities from fitness classes to live musical performances and an impromptu talk show.
All In For Education Poker Tournament Fundraiser – The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce in McAllen, TX raised money for college scholarships for local teens with a $150 a ticket Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament. The winner gets a 2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 motorcycle and the second and third place winners get custom-built poker tables.
Bike Connecticut Challenge Fundraiser – A two-day bike challenge ride across Connecticut raises $2 million for a cancer survivor center in Southport, CT. Riders have minimum fundraising requirements for particular distances, including $500 for 10 miles ($250 for students) and $2250 for the two-day ride (students included).
Parker’s Park Project Hot Dog Fundraiser – Parker Pustejovsky, the 4-year son of a fireman who was among the 17 firefighters killed in a fertilizer plant explosion outside Waco, TX, is holding a hot dog fundraiser to raise money to help repair the playground equipment damaged in the explosion.
Unique Cancer Fundraiser – Modeled on the pink flamingo fundraiser, the Flush Out Cancer fundraiser in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts features purple toilets placed in neighborhood yards. Each toilet comes with flushing instructions: $10 to take it away, $20 to gift it to a friend, or $30 for toilet insurance. All proceeds go the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Brats & Bags Fundraiser – The Rotary Club in Bloomington, IN is raising funds with its annual bratwurst lunch followed by a double elimination beanbag team tournament in the afternoon to benefit the Midwest Food Bank.
Pipeline To A Cure – A celebration of music and surfing raises money for Cystic Fibrosis in Huntington Beach, CA. Fun fundraising event features live music, cocktails, dinner, silent auction and a live auction.
Dining Out For Life Fundraiser – More than 90 restaurants in New Orleans joined together to help raise funds for the New Orleans HIV/AIDS Center. Each restaurant donated 25% of their proceeds when diners notified wait staff they were part of the Dining Out For Life annual fundraiser.
Boys & Their Toys – The Northumberland County Airport in Pennsylvania is hosting a Boys & Their Toys fundraiser for a 10-year old boy stricken with brain cancer. The all-day event features a car show, an air show and plane rides. Admission is free, and all proceeds from food and vendor sales will benefit Ian Latsha.
Whine & Dine Humane Society Fundraiser – The Humane Society in Jackson, TN held their annual Whine & Dine event featuring wine and beer tastings, heavy hors devours, live music and dancing. A Pet Parade provided some additional fun and a silent auction and lots of sponsors helped raise funds for the shelter.
