Fun Raising Friday – Giant pelican drops 100,000 golf balls in raffle drop fundraiser

 

Ball Drop Raffle From Giant Pelican – 100 charities sold $5 raffle chances for a ball drop raffle featuring a giant pelican with a 50-foot wingspan hovering over the University of Cincinnati baseball stadium. More than 100,000 raffle tickets were sold and a helicopter lifted the giant pelican high above the stadium. When it’s belly opened, the 100,000 numbered golf whiffle balls cascaded to the field below where a giant target awaited. First prize was $10,000 and there were also nine $1,000 prizes awarded.

Dance Marathon Fundraiser – Students at Avon High School in Avon, Indiana put together an amazing 6.5 minute lip sync video to promote their dance marathon fundraiser for nearby Riley Children’s Hospital. The school’s 2,700 students shot the amazing video in one take. Check it out below:

Rock & Roll Marathon – A number of the participants in the Rock & Roll Marathon held in Raleigh, NC raised funds for the V Foundation, which funds cancer research and honors the late N.C. State basketball coach Jim Valvano. Minimum individual fundraising amount for supporting the V Foundation was $500 per runner.

Fashion Show Fundraiser – A cosmetology school in Idaho Falls, Idaho held a fashion show to raise funds for the local women’s shelter, The Haven. Students at the Austin Kade Academy put on an annual show which has grown to several hundred performers and includes, fashion, popular music and dance numbers.

Fiesta Fundraiser –  A Mexican-themed fiesta fundraiser in Costa Mesa, California raised money for the Save Our Youth nonprofit organization. The fun fundraising event featured a live auction, silent auction, raffles, plus food and drinks included in the $60 admission price.

Jewels & Jeans Fundraiser – Elegant, yet the opposite of a black tie fundraising event, Jewels & Jeans in Savannah, Georgia raises $40,000 for Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. The fun fundraiser has a full slate of corporate sponsors including Sam’s Club and Sun Trust Bank. More than a dozen area restaurants provided samples of low-country cuisine for the attendees.

Rock Concert Fundraiser – 16 local bands staged an all-day rock concert fundraiser in Decatur, Illinois to raise money for a kids music camp, ala School Of Rock style. The money will fund the “First Gig Rock ‘N Roll Camp” to be held July 7-11 featuring local musicians teaching kids how its done from playing instruments to getting music gigs.

Zydeco & Cajun Music Bash – A fun fundraiser based on Cajun music and food was held in Lafayette, Louisiana to raise money for the Shining Light Foundation which helps local K-6 schoolchildren with expenses for musical instruments, field trips, and summer camp.

Paint The Town Red Fundraising Event – School boosters in Boyne City, Michigan hosted its fourth annual Paint the Town Red fundraising event to raise over $25,00 to help fund music programs and extracurricular activities for local schools. The fundraiser featured live and silent auctions, plus live music, food and wine.

Waiting For Wishes Fundraiser – The 13th annual Waiting For Wishes fundraiser in Nashville, Tennessee featured dozens of country music stars, professional athletes, and celebrities serving as waiters to help raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation. The Celebrity Waiters Fundraiser has raised more than $1.4 million since 2002.
